Reichian Therapy is the name given to a type of body centred psychotherapy developed by Wilhelm Reich MD, often also referred to as Orgone Therapy, Orgonomic Psychotherapy or Orgonomy. This form of therapy opens us to the experience of pleasure, liveliness, and vitality by releasing muscle armour and loosening habitual, unhelpful character structures.

This work is based on the premise that trauma overwhelms the nervous system and needs to be addressed somatically before emotional processing is possible. Effective post traumatic stress therapy involves both metacognition and bodywork.
